This is a picture of what we found on Friday after one of Lena's naps... She had pulled herself up and was standing in her crib ready to play. She is growing up so quickly, it is crazy! After she had pulled herself up Olga had me run downstairs and grab the camera before she sat down again. She ended up standing for a while and smiling at us. Now she even stands up to her music table and plays with it.

Asleep in Daddy's Chair

I put Lena in Randy's chair, just expecting to rock her a little and play but after a couple of rocks she started nodding off and falling asleep. She must've been SO tired because it is typically a lot harder than that to get her to sleep. Goes to show how comfortable daddy's chair must be!

More Sunglasses

This is Lena wearing the pair of sunglasses we bought when we were on our honey moon in the Bahamas. The white sand was so white that we couldn't see so we bought the cheapest pairs of sunglasses we could find... we later realized that they were childrens' sunglasses. :)

Getting Around

As I briefly mentioned in my previous post... Lena has started crawling around. She officially started crawling in March 10th, 2011. In all of her attempts at crawling in the previous days she always found herself falling from her hands and knees onto her tummy. Well, she found a solution to this problem by keeping one foot on the ground and one knee on the ground. :) It was quite commical to see and Randy would call it her "Quazi Motto" (not sure how to spell) crawl because that's who she looked like when she did it. :) She can now crawl with BOTH knees on the ground.

New Shoes, New Adventure

The shoes in the picture above have a story to tell. These were my very first pair or good running shoes. My brother Sam bought them for me when I was a freshman in high school. We had a plan to start running together. He took me to the Foot Locker in the Crossroads mall and bought us both a pair of good shoes. I think he spent like $100 on my shoes and inserts! The reason I have had them so long is that I never really adopted a consistent exercise schedule until my senior year in high school when I trained for my first spring triathlon. I'm also run several 5ks and a couple beginner triathlons in these shoes. They have served me well and I will always have fond memories of them. And now of course after having them for so long it has finally come time for me to get a new pair of shoes.
Here's a picture of my new pair of shoes. I am training for a half marathon and am hoping that they will serve me well on this new endeavor of mine. I'm sure it will be an adventure. :)
I just had to throw this picture in here because now that Lena has started crawling (first officially started on March 10th) she saw me taking pictures of my new shoes and had to come be included in the excitement.

Drunk Baby!

This picture of Lena is simply just too funny for me not too post. I caught her in mid-blink and it totally makes her look like a drunk baby. The crooked smile adds a little bit to it as well. :)

Who Doesn't Love Seeing Lena in Her Diaper?

Here's a cute picture of Randy playing with Lena, she loves to sit in his lap like that when his legs are crossed and he's so cute with her. She's in her diaper in this picture because we were trying out a new teething toy which consisted of putting a whole strawberry in a net and her chewing on it and getting all of the juices out... needless to say, we didn't want her getting strawberry all over her outfit. :) I still need to post a picture of her two teeth. They are so cute! :)

Haircut

After about two months of switching back and forth between wanting to grow my hair out and wanting to cut it, I decided to go with cutting it. Spring is in the air and a short hair cut is always fun to get with the summer. :) I was inspired by my sister Rosie who got her hair cut and I loved it! :)

Cutie Pie!

Here's just another cute picture of Lena to look at as you read a little bit of an update on what is going on in our life. :) I'm going to document a little bit about what's going on other than Lena, because of course we know I mainly update you on how SHE is doing and not on how everyone else is doing. Let's see, where to start.

Sam has been back at the Comollo home for a coupld of weeks and currently has two jobs, one at the Sparro's in the new mall and one at the Seven Eleven by the house. He has already given his two weeks notice however because he gets to go back to MATR near Manti to work as a substance abuse counceler. It has been really good to have him around again. He's had a chance to get to know the babies a little bit more and to get back in sink with hanging out with the family. The other night he came and stayed over at our house and we played some Kinect then watched Shrek 4.

Eva is still going to school and doing great in all of her classes, as usual. She is preparing to go on a mission sometime around August 2011 and I am so excited, however, I will definitely miss having her around for 18 months that she's gone. She's been such a great Zia! She watches Lena every Tuesday while I go to work and has a blast with them. She always has exciting stories about what the babies did during the day when I get there to pick Lena up. The stories that I can remember now are how Lena said the word "cupcake" :) I guess it went something like this: "beh beh beh beh cup cake" LOL! Sam's impression of it was pretty awesome. She also loves to eat grated pears that my dad makes for her.

Rosie is always super busy, but doing great. She is such a good mom and a good example to me. She makes me want to be a better mom. I also admire how Rosie is SO committed to her family... not just Alex and Jimmy but her sisters, brother and parents. She is the one that keeps us all together I think. She's always getting everyone on the same page as far as planning get togethers for birthdays, graduations and even just for no reason at all but to get together. Rosie is now working at Holaday Pediatrics which is where we both take our babies. We both see Doctor Witt. She is, however, searching for a part time job so that she can spend more time with her little Jimmy!

Alex is also super busy but doing pretty good overall I think. He is not only working full time but attending the U of U to obtain a B.S. in Political Science with a minor in History. He loves every minute he gets to spend time with his wonderful family. His mom doesn't live to far either so they get to see her alot too. Shellee(his mom) is one of the nicest people I know and I love it every time I get to see her. :)

My mom has been having the time of her life being able to watch her little grandbabies on Thursdays while Rosie and I are at work. She has also gotten into quilting a LOT and she is wonderful at it. I am amazed at everything she is able to create from pieces of fabric. My mom is one of the best examples to me of kindness and love. She simply loves spending time with her family and is always so ready to help when needed. Times I remember most with my mom include going on car rides with her just to run errands and singing to Collin Ray the whole way. :) There have also been many times when that she has helped me through hard times in my life. She always has the spirit so close and I can feel it even stronger when we are in the car together just talking about life and how amazing it is.

My dad is so wonderful. I have always loved spending time with my dad. I remember when I was a kid I would always go with him to run errands and we would always have good discussions. He helped me to have an open mind in my life and to see the things in the world that I typically would never learn about. He also taught me how to follow addresses and how all of the street signs work. Another thing that has come in really handy is how he would always make me call businesses to ask questions such as "When do you close?" or "Do you carry this item?" even when I thought I was too shy to ask these simple questions. Now I feel confident picking the phone up and dialing any business to ask them my questions. :) Lately he has been bringing home documentaries from the U that are so informative and interesting to watch.

Randy has been doing great. He is such a good dad and husband. He is always willing to take Lena and play with her when I need to go running. He gets up at 4:00am four days a week so that he can provide for me and Lena. He is always ready to forgive when I get upset or frustrated with him and he has shown me that together we can make it through anything. Currently he is excited about having a new fence, planting a garden, going camping, sleeping in, going hiking and getting the right brackets in for winning Winger's wings for a year. :)

I will be talking more about Lena (pictures included) in other posts, oh and Jimmy too!

Thanks to my family for being such great examples in my life and for always being there for me! I love you!

Gardening Part I

One of the things that Randy gets most excited about is being able to plant our own garden, now that we have a house. Even though it is only March and definitely not ready for planting outside, Randy had a good idea to get our seeds started growing inside. :) This is a picture of him planting all of our seeds in pots on one of the first "nicer" and "warmer" days of the year. :) Lena and I watched from inside after an attempt of braving the wind but deciding it was too cold for our taste. :)

First Restaurant Meal

Well we weren't planning in Lena getting her own meal at a restaurant for at least another half of a year, but I guess at Cafe Rio they give free quesadillas to all of the kids when you by a meal there. The nice lady who was wiping tables gave it to us and Lena had a blast ripping it apart. :) It has been pretty fun to be able to share our food with her. :)
