My little book worm! :)

My sister Rosie saw a website where this lady from England would build these awesome scenes around her sleeping baby. She, being the talented person that she is, was able to use this idea with Lena when she was baby-sitting. In this picture it looks like Lena is standing on top of Harry Potter books and holding some in her hand. :) Rosie is such an awesome aunt! :)

Fun with cousin Jimmy! :)

My awesome sister Rosie and her husband Alex offered to baby-sit so that Randy and I could go on a date. :) We had tons of fun! We went to the restaurant India Fusion for lunch and then saw the movie Tangles which was a super cute movie! While we were having so much fun, so was Lena with Rosie, Alex and Jimmy. Here is a little bit of what they did:
Here is a picture of Lena in her new sunglasses and cute overalls that her Nonna got her before she was born.
Here is Lena and Jimmy together in their matching overalls! And they are both sporting their super cool shades. :) They are going to be best buds!
Here's Lena and Jimmy in their matching overalls again sitting on the couch.

Cool Shades!

After finding a great deal on a bigger carseat for Lena, we (or at least me) were too excited about it to let it sit in storage until Lena was too big for her current smaller carseat, so we decided to try it out (rearfacing). We really love this new carseat, but one thing we realized, is that with the bigger ones, you don't have the convenient "carseat cover" to shield them from the sun. Well, the day we tried it out happened to be extra sunny with white snow on a ground, making the brightness even more unbearable and Lena was not enjoying that so I was holding a blanket up to sheild her eyes for the whole car ride. Luckily, at the next store we visited, they had the cutest little sunglasses for sale. :) Exactly what the doctor ordered. :) This is Lena modeling them for you. :)

My New Trick :)

Lena can now officially sit up on her own. When she started sitting up we tried putting her in the bath sitting up, instead of inclined on her back. She is able to splash and play with her bath toys this way and has so much fun as you can see by her smile in the picture. :) The funny thing is, with all of her colorful new toys to play with, the one thing that caught her eye was a tiny piece of lint (about the size of a grain of pepper). She tried and tried again to snatch that little piece of lint as it kept floating away from her grasp. She followed it until it floated under her little bum and was nowhere to be seen. :) That little cutie of mine! Always paying attention to the details.

Lena's Winter Dress

Here is Lena in her winter dress. :) It's always so fun to shop for clothes for Lena or for any baby for that matter. They are just so little and cute! :) The top picture is Lena with Dad on the Sunday we put her in her winter dress for the first time. We got all ready for church and then remembered until we had walked to the church that instead of church it was stake conference that week and we had already missed it. :(

A New Hat! :)

For Christmas my brother Sam crocheted this hat himself for Lena. She looks so cute in it! It is so amazing! I could not have crocheted anything that well. It will definitely be something we keep through the generations. :)

Real Food!?!?

When Lena turned four months old (Eva's Birthday October 23rd) we were able to start showing her what that spoon thing is all about. She wasn't sure about it at first and of course there was a lot more on her outside than inside. :) She started getting the hang of it after about a week or so. Until then, my dad and I came up with a way to get her to open her mouth and swallow her food (because blowing in her face, though entertaining to watch, would not get her to swallow), what we would do is show her the binky (she loves that thing) and when she would open her mouth, shove the spoonful of cereal in there, and THEN the binky, which she would automatically start sucking on, getting her to swallow. I know, I know, how deceitful right? Hey! It worked. :)

On Lena's first Thanksgiving she tried her very first food (other than the cereal) and LOVED it. If you couldn't tell by the picture, this was carrots. :)

How long has it been?

So I guess in my last post when I said "I'll post again soon" soon means almost four months. Hopefully the next posts won't be spread quite that far apart.

So as you probably have guessed, baby Getts did join us soon after my last post. James (Jimmy) Luigi Getts came into our lives on September 26th 2010 weighing 8 lbs 8 oz and something like 21.5 inches long. Hopefully Rosie will forgive me if I got the exact length wrong. Lena was able to meet little Jimmy but so far is oblivious. I'm sure they will become the best of friends. :)
