Too Cute Not to Post

Not too much to say about this picture other than it was too cute not to post. In this picture Lena is wearing a hat that my co-worker's wife made. They are actually going to be moving out to Stansbury Park in a couple of weeks and we are excited. :) They have a baby Lena's age so it will be fun to have a playmate close by. :)

New Hair Do

I've been getting a little bit craftly and making hair bows and flowers for Lena. Here is a picture of me modeling one of my flowers. I've decided I really like this hair do because it doesn't require a hair dryer OR straightener and still looks like I made a little bit of an effort. :)

Ready for a Walk in February

Sometimes being couped up inside all day long can get pretty boring. Especially during the Winter when it happens all of the time. So, even though it was a little cold outside we decided to bundle up and take our chances. Although we only ended up walking a block or so, it was a lot of fun. Lena saw lots of new things and got a cute little pink nose to show for it. :) Oh and did I mention that she likes to kick her boots off? I have a feeling we're going to have a hard time getting her to keep shoes on.

When Daddy's in Charge

I came home from my run the other day to find both Randy and Lena enthralled in one of Randy's football games on the xbox. :) This is why I am in charge most of the time. I have to admit though, it was cute seeing them both watching the game. It was even cuter the time I came home to find Lena with her own controller, plugged in and all... Randy claimed that she helped him score a touch down. :)

Natural Drinker (of water :) )

After eating a big meal of about ten tiny pieces of bread (mess shown) Lena was thirsty. She looked at our glasses as we drank with lots of excitement. We thought, "it can't hurt for her to try a little." Well, the pictures below tell it all. :) She caught on to the whole drinking-out-of-cup concept really fast. She grabbed the glass firmly with both hands, put her mouth up to the edge of the glass and sipped up the water. :) It is definitely fun to watch. :)

Lena loves sticking her tongue out. She would do it before taking a sip. So cute!

The face says it all (the shirt helps too).

On Saturday, February 5th 2011 Lena cut her first tooth. Their hasn't been too much crying about the subject, unless of course you tried to put her to sleep, which caused a little bit of a lack in sleep. She would scream and scream if you tried to put her to sleep, but if you sat her up and started playing with her, she was the happiest baby on earth. She would give me that big excited smile that made those nights of little sleep completely worth it. :) She is definitely a cutie. Oh, and guess what? When I told Rosie that Lena cut her first tooth, she informed me that Jimmy did too! Crazy cousins like doing everything at the same time it seems. :)

Mess maker!

Every time I'm feeding Lena, she always wants to "hold" the jar of food. Well, just for kicks and giggles, I decided to let her go at it and grabbed the camera. You can see the result in the picture. :) I'm not quite sure how that sock got caught up in all of the mess! Luckily we've got baby oxy clean. :)

So cute!

Just as I can never resist this cute little innocent face, I could not resist posting this picture for everyone to see. This is Lena at age six and a half months wearing her dress that is size 0-3 months. :P Yep, she's definitely tall for her age, but still super skinny. She's been running in the 75th percentile for height and the 15th percentile for weight. The doctor said, talking to Randy: "Sorry dad, it looks like she's going to be tall and thin." Of course Randy already has his speach ready for when a boy comes to take her out on a date: "Hey there *cocks shotgun* you better have her back by 8:30, I'll be here waiting on the porch cleaning my gun." :)

In this picture she is holding her favorite toys (for now at least), the monkey that Rosie got me as a "just because" present when I was in high school and the little teddy bear keychain I got when I was in Italy. The monkey has magnetic feet and hands so we keep it on the fridge. Every time we are in the kitchen Lena practically leaps to grab these toys.

When it's daddy's turn to play...

I think I was baking something that day, so Randy was playing with Lena, next thing I know, she was wearing the little apron that my sisters got for her before she was born (they got me one that looks just like it, but is a little bit bigger of course. :) ). Since her "real" toys got boring, dad decided to find something a little bit different to play with. Last time it was a package of hotdogs... this time, a coconut that we've had sitting in our kitchen for months. Randy's been telling me that he's going to do something with it (other than using them as a toy)... we'll see if that happens. :) Anyway, moral of the story, Lena really liked playing with a coconut. :)

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

So you might be thinking "It's just Chapstick, there's nothing special about Chapstick." However, there is a BIG story behing this Chapstick and why Lena is holding it in this picture. This was the very first thing that Lena rolled over from back to front for. I got a call from Eva that day (26Jan2010) informing me that Jimmy, Lena's cousin who is three months younger than Lena, had rolled over for the first time from back to front. I was amazed! I thought, "Lena hasn't even done that yet!". I new that if Jimmy was able to do it, that I could get Lena to. I first had to find something that she really really really wanted, something that she would roll over for. Well, it wasn't one of her many bright and colorful toys, it was my Chapstick of course. :) I placed it just out of reach on her back and she struggled and struggled and could BARELY touch it, but could not quite grab it. She tried to cry to me to get me to give it to her... but I held back becaue she was sooooo close! And alas, "mother knows best", because shortly after that, she rolled over, grabbed her (well my) Chapstick and quickly rolled back onto her back. :) Now rolling over is one of her favorite pass times. :)

Chllin' with Mom :)

The other day I had a chance to look through a scrapbook that Shellee (Alex's mom) made for Alex. There were so many cute pictures of Alex and one of the things I liked best about it was seeing pictures of Shellee as a young mom. Not very many pictures get taken of the mom it seems, since she is always the one behind the camera. Well, here is a picture of Lena with me, so that when I'm old and wrinkly I will have proof that I was once young and well, not wrinkly. :)
