Lena's Second Birthday!

Randy's mom came to spend the night before Lena's birthday and had some BIG presents waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs when she woke up... she LOVED the idea of getting presents and totally caught on to the whole "it's my birthday so I get presents" concept :)  I didn't think she would catch on until next year!  Anyway, after opening her presents (see below for what they were) we put our present to her (the tricycle) on the porch and told her to come outside... when she saw it she was so excited and wanted to jump on right away. :)  Later on we went to the store and let her pick out some balloons... I didn't get a picture of them but she chose a green star, a mini green star to match, one with a dog, an Elmo one and a Mickey Mouse one. :)

Later we met up with Randy's sister and her family (Andy, Randy's nephew has his birthday on the same day) and went out to dinner... we went to sizzler and Lena got the salad bar and loved eating all of the fruit she wanted. :)

She's already a pro!

She thought this resembled glasses :)

Photo Shoot!

Lena looked especially cute on this day so I took pictures just because.  Here is some of her fun personality showing through:

Oh, I made this shirt by cutting it out of one of my old ones and sewing up the sides and the shoulders!  So easy!

More Blueberries

Here's Lena eatin' some more blueberries.  I just love that little stained mouth so much that I couldn't resist taking more pictures.

Lena's checking her blue tongue out in the mirror.  She likes looking in the mirror... my little vein one.  She especially likes to watch herself cry.  Silly girl!

Pool Time!

So quite a while ago (yes still behind) it was a hot day (not as hot as it is now of course) we decided to break out Lena's little pool and let her get wet and play in the water.  It was close to bath time anyway so we didn't even bother getting her in her swimming suit...

Here are some pictures of the fun she had:

 She loves holding the hose!!!

And this is why they make swim diapers:

Chalk Arts Festival

We always love to go to the Chalk Arts Festival at the Gateway to see the AMAZING chalk art that people create.  This year the talented Alex Getts (who I am proudly related to) participated!  He drew Batman and Cat Woman and did awesome.  This was actually his first time drawing one of his pictures with chalk.  He said it took way longer than he imagined it would and was way harder but thinks that a year will be enough time for him to forget about that and he'll sign up again next year!  We're hoping he makes it a tradition because we love seeing his work.

Alex hard at work... oh and Sam is one of the spectators! :)

I thought this one was pretty awesome!

We took little break in the shade with the kids... they were so excited to sit on the rocks!

And...

RACE on the rocks!

 Ready... Set...

 GO!!!

And now... the finished product!

Green Smoothies

My neighbor introduced me to the concept of "Green Smoothies"... sounds gross right?  Well, once you get past the color, they are actually pretty good!  All you do is make a smoothie like you would usually make and then add spinach to it... it changes the color but not the taste!  And if you're like me and have a hard time eating salad all of the time, it's a good way to get those healthy greens in your diet. :)  And guess what!  Lena likes them too! :)

Washing Hands... or something...

Lately Lena has been asking to wash her hands all of the time!!!  At first this was music to a proud mama... but I soon realized that Lena's code words for "I want to play in the water and get it everywhere" were "wash hands"... *sigh*  :)  Oh well... I can't help but let her have so much fun... not to mention the extra time I get to make dinner or empty the dishwasher while she is happily entertained... it's worth wiping up the water on the floor afterwards. :)
